Experiential Marketing and How to Rock it!

As I write this I am sitting on a train which is returning from Dorking to Waterloo. I have got 2 champagne glasses in my bag which bear the Denbies Vineyard logo and my folder is full of brochures and information.

I have had the best afternoon. My friend Champagne Jayne organised for both of us to have lunch at Denbies and to join in their sparking wine tasting session. We also had a tour of the winery and the Denbies estates.

I am thinking of sending my husband there as a special treat, and I’ve brought him back a bottle of their fabulous Rose wine (which I know he will love).

Guess what?! I’m not a big wine fan. I have the odd half glass for anniversaries and Christmas, but that’s basically it. Despite this, I had a great time, bought their product AND will be talking about it for at least a week. All because Denbies gave me a great experience, rather than a sales pitch.

Can you get your customers to come to you through experiential marketing? Probably. Read this on to find out how.

Experiential marketing means giving people the feeling that they have experienced a little bit of your product or service, which makes them more likely to buy from you because they like what you have to offer them.

Here’s some great ways to use experiential marketing in your business.

  • give samples, tasters or mini freebies
  • use web video, so that people get to know you
  • include a virtual tour on your website (great for venues)
  • host a client event and have your products on show, or do a demonstration of what you offer.
  • do QVC style interviews which demonstrate and explain your offering in great details as part of a conversation – more natural than a piece to camera
  • get your clients to send you their stories and pictures of them using your products, or the results of your service
  • include client case studies on your website and in your brochure
  • do something fun with your key prospects – it will make them feel warmer towards you.

You can probably think of lots more examples that would work for your business.
